Mountain Running Championships 2012 in sight
TV Bühlertal and the WMRA discuss the first details of the event. Bühlertal (kkö).
In a special meeting, the responsible organization team of TV Bühlertal decided over details for the Masters World Mountain Running Championships in 2012. The world championships are organized by the World Mountain Running Association - represented at the meeting by Wolfgang Münzel - host of the Championships is TV Bühlertal (as already reported by the ABB).
Topics discussed were the accreditation of the participants, the starting point and finish line of the run, the opening ceremony and the presently scheduled speakers (including District Administrator Jürgen Bäuerle and the first chairman of TV Bühlertal, Karl-Heinrich Preis). All speeches will be translated into English. Expected are 800-1000 participants from all over 25 nations; only starters who have not yet reached the age of 80 are admitted. The timing is done via a chip in the starting number.
The recently organized mountain run had shown that medical care must be improved. Considering a partially non-functioning mobile network in the higher elevations, another point to be discussed according to organizing team is how internal communication can be secured. Furthermore, a yet to be determined doping doctor should perform random checks of the participants. In aspect of advertising measures the creation of flyers or brochures was suggested. Finally, some financial issues were resolved, for example, the estimated costs for travel and accommodation of the WMRA councils, the amount of entry fee and possible sponsors for the event, which will be addressed directly by the club.
The first meeting between the Turnverein Bühlertal and the WMRA was attended by (from left) Tino Rettig (Director, Tourist Info), Theo Scheuerer (Sponsorship), Karl Preis (President Turnverein), Wolfgang Münzel (Representative of the WMRA), Susi Müller (Vice-President Turnverein), Jürgen Brügel (Organizational Leader WM).
